Living Near The Sea

For me, life started in Manhattan.
And after that, there is a fairly short list of towns:

• New Canaan
• Pacific Palisades
• Exeter
• Palo Alto
• Malibu
• Honolulu
• San Francisco
• Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks

In Thousand Oaks I am, as the crow flies, 7.7 nautical miles from the surf at Trancas Beach.  This is as far as I have lived from salt water in my life.

My uncle was a sailor, and he taught me how to sail.  Going up the family tree a great-great uncle was a ship-builder.  Beyond that, we are talking about Vikings.
